South Australia is an Aussie rules state, with thousands of amateur footy players getting their weekly exercise through kicking the pill around.
A couple of weekends ago we were in the hills (visiting wineries of course) and dropped in at the Oakbank oval to see Onka Valley play Mount Lofty in both the B grade and A grade matches.
It was a pretty good standard of footy.
In the old fashioned way, we were able to park on the boundary and watch the play through the comfort of the car, while eating a meat pie and sauce. Heaven.
The Adelaide Hills footy competition is very healthy with many clubs fielding eight teams, four in division 1 and four in division 2. There's A grade, B grade, Senior Colts, Junior Colts and mini-colts across more than 20 clubs. Wow..
